If you have Windows Vista or Windows 7 operating system installed on your computer, you can create a bootable flash thumb drive from a CD disk. Make certain that your computer is equipped with a DVD/CD writeable drive. Then you can copy all of the files from the Windows OS installation CD to a flash thumb drive. Use a formatted USB (Universal Serial Bus) flash thumb drive that has at least 4 gigabytes of memory on it, so you will be able to store the files on the Windows OS installation CD.
To create a USB boot disk for your Windows 7 computer, make certain that you backup all of the files that you have stored on the USB flash drive. You will also have to reformat the drive. Remember that when you reformat an USB flash drive, all of the files on it will be over-written and erased. Be sure to check the BIOS (Basic Input Output System) on your computer to find out if your computer is able to boot from a USB flash drive.
